Welcome to the Workforce Development Center (WDC) of Southeast Arkansas College. The function of the WDC is to provide educational and training opportunities to business, industry, government and the community in the college’s service area. The service area includes Jefferson, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Grant, and Lincoln counties in southeast Arkansas.

Customized Training
The Workforce Development Center can offer any of its courses to your firm at any time of day, night or weekend on a contract basis. These courses can be tailored to your specific needs. By simply working with WDC staff, a training program can be developed that specifically addresses your company's needs and that of your employees. Fees vary according to the program or course. These courses are provided on your demand on a contract basis only.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Do some of your employees speak English as their second language? If this causes communications problems on the job, then you are in luck. These classes can be provided on-site at your location, if needed, along with flexible scheduling options.


On-Line Learning
Are time contraints and scheduling conflicts issues preventing training? Here is a solution for employers and employees. Learning on-line is an opportunity to improve skills and increase knowledge while maintaining a flexible schedule. It can be anywhere and anytime. You can view a course as a visitor or register for a course.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CENTER

 

CENTER MISSION
"It is the mission of Southeast Arkansas College Workforce Development Center to compile and translate the needs of employers and students into affordable training programs. This will be accomplished by developing and implementing a process which will provide continuous improvement in the development, delivery, and affordability of customized training and services to business, industry, and government organizations within the SEARK College service area."

CENTER STAFF
The professional staff of the Workforce Development Center is composed of: Director of Workforce Development and an Industry Training Specialist. The regular academic and technical education faculty is also utilized in providing Center Services, as well as a number of adjunct instructors, consultants, and specialized trainers. CENTER SERVICES
Computer Software Training - The WDC offers a wide range of training in the latest software and techniques. Most courses range from three hours to one day.

Customized Business and Industry Training - Courses and programs which will assist in updating, upgrading, and cross-training current employees.

Professional Development Video Conferences - State-of-the-art satellite downlink capabilities provide access to the newest telecourses and video conferences.

Quality and Workforce Leadership Training - Courses and programs related to total quality management and continuous improvement, including Quality Management and Improvement, Statistical Process Control, Quality Team Leadership and Facilitation, ISO 9000, Human Relations and Interpersonal Development, and World Class Manufacturing.

Specialized Pre-Employment Training and Assessment - Specially designed training for persons seeking entry-level employment in specified fields and to meet the expanding or replacement entry-level personnel needs of local companies. Current programs include the IWTP (Industrial Workplace Training Program) and the RWTP (Retail Workplace Training Program).

Technology Transfer - Assistance in identifying, accessing and applying new technologies and techniques developed in both the public and private sectors.

Other Services - Consulting, referral or training in such areas as: entrepreneurship, government contracting, hazardous materials, international trade, safety/OSHA, and state sponsored industry training programs to include formal apprenticeship programs.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES
Continuing and community education classes are offered throughout the year at Southeast Arkansas College. These classes are organized to serve the comprehensive educational needs of the community. Recognizing that the educational needs of any individual are not only academic and career oriented, but also cultural and a vocational, the staff designs and arranges non-credit and credit courses, workshops, seminars, and activities which offer opportunities in which these needs are met. Southeast Arkansas College welcomes community input for future community and continuing education courses.
