Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: To prepare Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics and Apprentices for entry-level employment in a wide range of construction, maintenance and service positions in business and industry. Graduates are eligible to take the test offered by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute to be certified as an Entry-Level HVAC(R) Technician. Safety is stressed in all aspects of this program.

Responsibilities

  • Install heating, ventilation, central air conditioning and refrigeration systems such as oil burners, air conditioning units, and hot-air furnaces
  • Inspect and ensure health building conditions and safe, comfortable environment in hospitals, homes, schools, and any place that houses people.
  • Replace old, outdated technology with more energy-efficient, greener models
  • Repair Systems when they break down
  • Ensure the proper disposal of environmentally hazardous parts and chemicals that come from HVACR systems
