1. Apply for Arkansas state grants and scholarships at www.adhe.edu.  Look for the YOUniversal Application link.
  2. To apply for federal student aid, first apply for a PIN number at www.PIN.ed.gov.  Keep your PIN number in a safe place to be used throughout your enrollment.
  3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form any time after January 1. You will use your PIN number from Step 1 to sign the form electronically.

    The FAFSA can be filed on the Internet at the following website: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Use SEARK College's school code 014893. To request a paper copy of the FAFSA, call the Federal Processing Center at 1-800-433-3243.

    You may be eligible for the following Federal Student Aid:
    • Federal Pell Grants
    • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
    • Federal Work Study
    • Federal Direct Student Loan
    Within 3-5 days after submitting your FAFSA electronically, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), confirming the information you reported on your financial aid application.
  5. Please review the SAR for accuracy and, if changes need to be made, go online to www.fafsa.gov. Sign in, choose "make a correction or change," and submit your corrections.

    SEARK will receive your FAFSA within 7-10 days after it is processed. You will be sent an initial information letter from SEARK's Financial Aid Office; there will be at least one document requested and possibly more. Please fill out all forms completely and return the requested information immediately.

    Examples of some forms you might receive include, but are not limited to: Supplemental Information Form, Dependent or Independent Verification Worksheet, Low Income Statement, Missing Signature Form, and Asset Information Form. If you are selected for verification, you will be required to turn in signed copies of Federal tax returns.
  6. Your financial aid information will be processed after all of your documents are received.
  7. You will receive a financial aid award letter with a packet of information.
  8. A William D. Ford Direct Loan may be processed through the SEARK Financial Aid Office. You must complete a Federal Direct Loan Program Notification of Interest form and complete the Entrance Counseling at https://studentloans.gov.  The confirmation page must be printed and attached to the Notification of Interest form for processing.  You will need your FAFSA PIN number to complete the counseling.
  9. You will also need to complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note at https://studentloans.gov. You will sign electronically with your FAFSA PIN number.
