Student Carolyn Shavers: “Comprehending the concepts and formulas of algebra has been a challenge for me. Mr. Alex is a wonderful tutor and I believe I am going to complete this course with success with his assistance.”
Tutor is Dr. Alexander Kachowski.
Taking a course you just can't grasp? Do not wait until the end of the semester - Contact Tikeecha Clark-Spikes in the Tutoring Service Center as soon as you feel like you are having difficulty with a class.
The Tutoring Service Center, located in the Library and Center for E-Learning, wants to put you in charge of your own learning through collaboration with peer tutors. If you are frustrated or confused, you can get clarification. If you already feel confident in your work, you can improve even more. We can help improve your preparation for exams, provide feedback about how to clarify your ideas on a paper, or help you arrive at an answer on a math problem.
Peer Tutors are SEARK students who excel in their coursework, possess skills and qualities that make them ideal helpers, and have been recommended by SEARK faculty as demonstrating superior subject knowledge. Peer Tutors are well-suited to offer support because they have recently taken many of the same classes that you are in now. This makes them uniquely qualified. Tutors want to develop active, independent learners in the students with whom they work. Tutoring is provided in individual and group sessions and includes assistance with MyMathLab, MyReadingLab, and MyWritingLab.
