SUMMER PELL GRANT

As summer registration begins, you may be thinking about taking classes and how to pay for it.  Pell Grant eligible students can receive summer bonus Pell Grant!  This can allow you to stay on track for graduation or even to complete your degree early.  Awarding begins in April.

Minimum Credits for Summer Pell Grant for Full-time Students (Bonus Pell)

If you enrolled full-time (12+ credits) and received the full-time Pell Grant amount for fall and spring, you must enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) in summer classes to receive a summer Pell Grant.

Minimum Credits for Summer Pell Grant for Part-time Students (Leftover Pell)

You still have remaining Pell eligibility!  Leftover Pell does not require a six-credit minimum to be utilized during summer.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a summer Pell Grant, you must:
Have completed a 2018-2019 FAFSA
Be Pell Grant eligible
Enroll in ALL summer classes before the June 3 deadline (all terms)
Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Have lifetime Pell Grant eligibility remaining

Why Might My Summer Pell Award Be Reduced?

There is a lifetime aggregate limit of six years for Pell or its part-time equivalent. If you are close to or have reached that limit, you will not be eligible for or see a reduction in your summer Pell award. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 3701+ should consult with a Financial Aid Advisor concerning Pell enrollment requirement.

How Can I Check My Pell Lifetime Eligibility Usage (LEU)?

Check the Federal Student Aid website for more information about and how to view your Pell LEU usage.
