President’s Leadership Class

Objective
To develop an academic, experiential, and service-learning program designed to foster and cultivate leaders who are:
- Ethical
- Visionary
- Critical & Innovative Thinkers
- Committed to Action
- Servants of the Broader Good

Program Mission
The mission of the program is to develop and train emerging leaders at SEARK College through a one-semester leadership program that is focused on academics, experiential, and service learning. The program will serve as a bridge between the SEARK community and greater community by developing partnerships with area leaders, businesses, and community service organizations.
Experiential Learning
President’s Leadership Class (PLC) scholars will be given ample opportunities to learn about leadership through numerous hands-on experiences throughout their semester in the program. Provided opportunities include lectures from recognized leaders and leadership positions on campus and in the community.
Service Learning
The PLC program places an emphasis on community service and civic engagement in order to help scholars develop a social awareness, civic responsibility, and interconnectedness. Scholars will be required to preform a minimum of 10 hours of community service during the semester they are enrolled in the program.
Criteria for Selection
Selection is based on leadership potential, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to give of oneself, as evidenced by the following:
- A minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average
- A completed written application
- Two letters of recommendation
- SEARK transcript
- Personal interview
President’s Leadership Class Scholarship (PLC)
The President’s Leadership Class Scholarship at SEARK recognizes outstanding students who demonstrate talent and distinguished achievement in the areas of leadership, citizenship, service and communication. The scholarship is comprised of a full-tuition waiver for up to 12 credit hours during the spring 2021 semester.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have 2.5 GPA or higher
- Current college students should be enrolled in a cumulative minimum of nine credit hours each semester
Application Procedure
Scholarship applicants who meet the eligibility requirements must submit the following material with this completed application:
- Current SEARK transcript
- Two letters of recommendation
Submission Instructions
All scholarship applications and supporting materials must be received by posted deadline.
Complete your application and upload the supporting materials (SEARK Transcript and Letters of Recommendation).
Selection Process
All applicants who meet the specified requirements will be considered by the PLC Selection Committee. The Committee will review the applications and recommend the top applicants for an interview. Students who advance to the interview process and are recommended by the PLC Selection Committee will be considered for awards. Students who are selected will enroll in the 3-hour President’s Leadership Class, offered Spring 2021. All applicants will be notified regarding the result of the application process.
