Radiologic Technology

This program provides the didactic and clinical content required to prepare graduates to apply to write the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination for Radiographers. The curriculum includes instruction in the art and science of using radiation to provide images of tissues, bones, and blood vessels of the human body. Upon successful completion of the examination, graduates are certified as Registered Radiologic Technologists. RT (ARRT) (R).

Application Procedures and Deadline

Classes are admitted in August. Class size is limited; and all applicants are not accepted for participation.

Applicants with special needs due to disability must make this fact known prior to admission, so that necessary accommodations can be made. Because of the nature of the profession it may not always be possible to accommodate students with severe disabilities.

Deadline for application is the 2nd Friday in April.

Acceptance Procedure

Applicants that are selected for admission must notify the Allied Health Division of intent to register by picking up an acceptance packet within the allotted time. Upon acceptance into the program students must submit evidence of the following in order to begin classes: It is the students’ responsibility to submit all documents required for clinical through the College’s Clinical Requirements database. The cost of the subscription drug screen, and criminal background check is the student’s expense.

  1. Current C.P.R. Certification (American Heart Association.- C.C. Provider or Red cross Professional)
  2. Functional Ability Acknowledgement Form
  3. P.P.D. Skin Test or Chest X-Ray
  4. Hepatitis B Series or Signature on SEARK Vaccination Waiver Claim Form
  5. Drug Screen
  6. Criminal Background Check

Students enrolled in Allied Health programs with a clinical component will be assessed a fee for malpractice insurance.

NOTE: Random drug screening may be utilized at any time during the course of the program at the students’ expense.

Admission Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma (or GED Equivalency)
  2. Completion of all SEARK admission requirements.
  3. Completion of the Allied Health Application for admission prior to the application deadline.
  4. Complete the required preadmission courses from an accredited college or university with a grade of “C” or above.
  5. Compass scores of Reading 83+, Accuplacer score of 75, and Compass Math 41, Accuplacer Math 77+; or minimum ACT score of 19 in each section; or completion of 15 semester hours of general education applicable to the program with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  6. Completion or test scores validated exemption of all required developmental studies courses in English, mathematics, and reading.
  7. A minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average for all college coursework (excluding development courses).
  8. Complete a professional observation.
  9. Based on the above criteria, the top 30 applicants will be interviewed.
